VBAC's Do NOT Cause Deaths

I was invited to talk at a prenatal yoga studio today in NYC. Five women showed up for the talk. It was a lovely group of women. The knowledge of pregnancy ranged from almost nothing to one mom who read Ina May's Guide To Childbirth. WOOT!

As the talk ended and some of the moms left, two stayed behind to speak with me further. One discussed how much she was influenced by the movie Orgasmic Birth and how the information was so useful to her and how upset she was that so many of her friends were told that they MUST have a repeat C-section because a VBAC would be so risky to the baby that it would probably die.

This mom mentioned to me that many of her friends have heard this very statement and that it traveled around her circle of friends.

I will do another post with the research and statistical data on VBAC safety. For today I am just going to emphatically state that THIS IS A LIE! There is no place written to back up this lie and it can only be coming from ONE VERBAL SOURCE. It's certainly not coming from the doula community or the midwifery community.
